A fast-growing, NYC-based bakery and hospitality group is seeking a passionate, hospitality-minded professional with an exceptional eye for detail, strong business acumen, and the ability to train and inspire a growing team as the Catering Manager/Director of Catering. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of management experience in food service, with a strong focus on catering and events. This individual should bring a deep commitment to service and a proactive mindset toward continuous improvement.
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Oversee catering operations and manage department logistics for both in-store and off-premise events.
- Deliver exceptional hospitality in all interactions with customers, vendors, and team members.
- Coordinate closely with internal departments, locations, and delivery personnel to ensure accurate inventory, quality control, and fulfillment of catering and wholesale orders.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the catering menu to provide thoughtful guidance and tailored suggestions to clients.
- Refine and expand standard operating procedures and systems for the catering and wholesale departments; proactively seek new opportunities while balancing production capabilities.
- Collaborate with PR and marketing teams to plan and execute seasonal promotions and new product launches.
- Lead administrative tasks such as staff scheduling, sales forecasting, purchasing, and performance analysis to drive revenue, efficiency, and customer retention.
- Manage pre-orders for holiday and featured menus across multiple locations in partnership with operations and production teams.
- Conduct market research to uncover new sales channels and grow the client base.
- Resolve service issues with professionalism and empathy, keeping thorough records to analyze trends and elevate guest satisfaction.
- Supervise the catering team across all shifts, delegate responsibilities, and support staff onboarding, training, and career development.
- Plan and execute catering and off-premise events, including menu planning, logistics, rentals, and staffing coordination.
Skills & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a catering/wholesale manager, event coordinator, or comparable leadership role
- Minimum 3 years in hospitality or the food & beverage industry
- CRM experience, particularly with wholesale and catering clients
- Proficiency in G Suite, Microsoft Office, and Apple platforms
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
- Availability to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Authorization to work in the United States
